Ok well I have trouble with my makeup. There is always something wrong =( Like if I put mascara on it looks like to much, but I do have long eyelashes.

Also I have brown eyes and don’t know what eyeshadow to wear. Should I wear my eyeshadow by what color I’m wearing that day or my skin tone???

Finally my lip color what color should I wear, I have thin, medium lips. Thank you!!! Carley, 13

.

Dear Carley,

I have found the best beauty trick out there is when you stick to natural colors and use makeup to enhance your own colors. This ALWAYS turns out looking the best and most stunning. I have brown eyes too, and long eyelashes. I have found what works for me is to use a sheer foundation all over my face and eyelids as a base.

Then curl my eyelashes…it really helps open up your eyes and makes mascara look good…just make sure to only apply one coat. Also, one reason why your mascara might look to thick is because it may be drying out….you should probably replace it with a fresh mascara that will go on smoother. My favorite mascara is Maybelline intense XXL mascara…it goes on smooth and keeps my lashes curled all day!

Then on my eyelids, I keep it very neutral and with a cream color base and light coral color shade in the corners…but I apply it very subtle. It goes with everything I wear. The eye shadow is from Dior. Sometimes too much eye shadow or eye shadow that is too dark can make your eyes look sunk in.

As for your lips find a shinny clear gloss that will accentuate your natural color of your lips. I love CoverGirl WetSlicks in clear radiance! Plus it is only a few dollars! My lips are medium to small too and the clear gloss really plumps them up while my natural color compliments my facial colors the best. Its funny how nature usually knows what looks best on us!

You can always write back or send me a picture if you have any more detailed questions.

xoxo

  1. hello i have one more question:

what are natural colors and what colors should i not wear?

    Carley

  2. Dear Carley,

By natural colors I mean colors that you find in your face already…such as peach, pink, brown, taupe, cream, black, beige, ivory, etc…..pretty much all earthy tones.

Colors not to use would be bright blue, green, or purple or other unnatural colors not found naturally on peoples faces. No ones eye lids are actually bright blue or purple…so stay away from these colors. They will make you look like a 10 year old that just found her mom’s makeup bag. These colors are very hard to make look good with out it being obvious that you have a ton of makeup on.

If you do want to experiment with these colors, save them for night time makeup when you are going out, and use sparingly…if used right, and paired with the right outfit, these colors can look great. But avoid them for your everyday makeup…keep those colors simple, natural and beautiful.

The ultimate goal of makeup is to look like you are not wearing any and just bring out your facial features…then people are seeing your natural beauty which is exactly what you want them to see!

    xoxo
