Hi Katie,

I bleached my hair a few weeks ago and now it is a light yellow blonde. I really want white/platinum blonde hair. I have used a toner and that took a lot of the yellow out but it’s still not as light as i want it. What can I do?

Please do not tell me to go to a salon. I went to a salon to get it bleached, spent $100 just to get bright orange/blonde that I had to fix myself. I’m not going to another salon.
Please Help!        Danica

.
Dear Danica,

Try using L’Oreal “Super Blonde” which will lighten your hair all the way…comb it through your strands evenly and make sure you leave it on long enough. (I leave it on for 45 mins to an hour, but since you have already bleached your hair you can skip this step. But for everyone else, after using Super Blonde, wash it out thourghly and dry your hair. Once dry it will not be the exact color you want it.

It will look really pale and yellowish…this is normal, do not panic! This is the stage your hair is in right now. So next you are going to use a semi permanent color that is light blonde or golden or ash blonde. Two of my favorites is by Revlon Colorist or Colorsilk

Comb through your hair thoughouly and leave this hair color on you hair for only 5-7 minutes and rinse. Then, if your color is too brassy or yellow use a purple shampoo such as Shimmer Lights to tone it down…when using this shampoo, lather it really well and make sure not to leave it in too long. Only thirty seconds at a time.

If it is still too brassy or yellowish, use the purple shampoo again each day until you see the results you want. (but make sure not to over use…this will turn you hair a purplish or grayish color) If you use it in 30 second intervals you will achieve the “white or platinum” look you want.

I’ve been doing this now because to my own hair for a couple years now. I know what you mean, I could never get the salon to do it right either! Now I get it just how I want it.

If you have any trouble with using this technique, feel free to email me again and I will help you to get the results you are looking for!

Hi Katie
,
I colored my hair black about 3 months ago, my hair color naturally varies from a light blonde to a dark brunette. My hair has barely faded, I wash it at least once a day and my color will not come out, I really want my natural hair color back and fast.

Is there any product I could use once or twice a day that would help get it out faster? Or is there any other way without dying it permanently or bleaching it I can get progress??

The box said it should only last 30 washes except if i went drastically darker which i did, so i was thinking it would come out in about 60 but i know i’ve washed my hair at least 30 times and there really isn’t any change in color at all. ~ Gina

,

Dear Gina,

Black is a really harsh color and can be hard to correct…but there is a couple of things you can try.

I color my friend’s hair all the time, and her hair is naturally a sandy blonde color and we colored it a dark brown, but she didn’t like it, it came out to dark so we used this kit and it completely reversed the dark coloring and her hair looked just like it did before it was colored!

But we did it the day after we had colored it.So you may want to check to see it will still work after you have had the color in as long as you have.Good luck, hope you get your natural hair color back.

I have found over time that it really is true that the most flattering color hair on most people is the color they are born with.

Funny how nature just knows what will make us most beautiful!

xoxo

<img src="http://girltogirltalk.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/videoelements/images/girl160.gif" alt="" / align=left>
Dear Girl to Girl,

I’m dying my hair dark brown for Halloween its the temporary 10 day color.

Do u think it’s a good idea?? Does dark brown turn out different of dirty blonde hair?

Olivia

<img src="http://girltogirltalk.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/videoelements/images/girl161.gif" alt="" / align=left>
Dear Olivia,

Honestly I think it is a bad idea. The temporary hair color will not wash out completly in 10 days. When they say “10 days” they mean it will look like that brown color for 10 days before it starts to fade to a less brown color.

If I were you I wouldn’t risk ruining your hair color just for halloween. Instead you could get a cute brown synthetic wig or the hair paint that washes out when you take a shower.

Good luck!
